We are a group of people who have come together to raise money for The Forces Children’s Trust. We are mainly from the Metropolitan Police Service, hence the backing and support from the Commissioner, Sir Paul Stephenson, and our ‘Champion, Assistant Commissioner Cressida Dick (when we say champion, she hasn’t won anything yet!!!) However, it must be stressed that this is not organised by the Metropolitan Police Service but by The Challenge 2010 committee and events are open to everyone. (We have people from all walks so please don’t let that put you off). The Challenge 2010 aims to encourage people to engage in fund raising activity for the Forces Children’s Trust. We are operating with the full support of the Trust and its founder, Denny Wise. Our own challenges are the brainchild of the Executive Committee chairperson, Joanie Sewell, MBE. As a consequence of her persistent and persuasive actions an executive committee was formed, comprising of Andy Beckford and Mark Teodorini, the latter of whom tends to chair the meetings due to being the loudest! There are sub committees concerning each facet of The Challenge 2010. The running events are headed by Andy Grant, the channel swim by Helen Eady and the cycle phases by Mark Teodorini. There are many people from a diverse group who make up the sub committees and are working hard, in their own time, to make the Challenge 2010 enjoyable events for all. We are not professional event organisers and are donating our time in order to raise the profile, and subsequently funds, for a great cause. We look forward to you joining us in our quest!!!
